Giving more people access to affordable healthcare
Giving more people access to affordable healthcare
Inspired by mobile technology we created a platform which digitally connects members, healthcare providers and payers. In a country where millions fall into poverty each year due to unexpected healthcare expenses and only 2% is insured, we aim to make healthcare accessible and affordable for more Kenyans.

Our Story
In 2015, CarePay launched with the mobile health wallet in Kenya under a local brand name “M-TIBA”. Combining mobile technology and -money so people could save up for future hospital expenses. Within no time we got an overwhelming number of registrations.
Over 4 million people signed up. It was the steppingstone to getting the biggest industry players on board. Becoming the digital connector between healthcare payers, providers, and members and covering the end-to-end healthcare journey allows us to tap into all issues within the healthcare ecosystem. In other words, the platform improves the way money flows through the healthcare system, lowering the costs society must pay to get access to good quality healthcare. As all transactions and related information flows are handled in real-time in the cloud, administration costs caused by manual processing are lowered drastically. Hospitals are paid much faster, better rates are unlocked, and the high level of transparency not only causes higher levels of trust but also reduces high unaccounted costs that are often caused by fraud.
From the beginning, CarePay was recognized internationally as #7 on Fortune’s Change the World list alongside Alibaba, Paypal and Zoom and positioned in the Top 25 for creating new ways to access and finance healthcare through mobile phones by the Knowledge House in Kenya 2021.
